This is the Place!

We had a season pass to This is the Place Heritage Park this summer and used it several times. The kids always have a good time there!
Here are the boys with the train engineer:

This guy is Dr. Quackenbush and he convinced Darcy to pay him a buck for this bottle of “obedience tonic” that was supposed to make people do whatever you wanted them to! Later in the day the pioneer townsfolk declared him a fraud and held a trial for him in the courtroom that we attended. He was sentenced to community service. However, Darcy was still convinced he was truthful and snuck the tonic (blue water) into all of our drinks for a week.

A shave costs 2 bits!

Zoo and Rodeo

Daxton’s kindergarten field trip was to the zoo! His class all got to wear matching hats in case anyone got lost.

We also went to the West Jordan stampede. It was much funner than I was expecting!

Easter 2011

It’s so fun going through pictures that were taken earlier in the year! These are from last April when we made the kids pose on the porch in their Easter outfits. Aren’t they darling?!!!

Neglected

Yes, our blog has been very neglected this past year. That is because we have been spending too much time growing and having FUN!!! It is going to take me several posts to get some of our pictures up from the last year.

These are some photos of the amazing bunkbeds that Aaron made for the kids last year for Christmas…if only I had pictures to post of the beds completed!

Look how short Ky Ky’s hair was! This was right after we cut off her mullet!

And even though she has had her own bunkbed for almost a year, she still thinks it is best to sleep in mommy and daddy’s bed

Or play grandpa’s ipad on a hotel bed…I think this was while we were in St. George for the half marathon last Jan

Some funny things that I remember from the last few weeks…

My mom ordered pillow pets online for the kids for Christmas and stored them in the closet in my office. One day while everyone was at school, we opened the packages to look at the pillow pets and Kyanna (who is 2) saw them. We told her they were for her cousin and then my mom took them home. That was a few weeks ago, and ever since then any time any of the kids open my closet door Kyanna says “Sorry guys. The pillow pets aren’t in there anymore.” Luckily nobody has been paying enough attention to her to catch on and ask any questions, but it cracks me up every time she says it!

Kyanna also has decided recently that she would like to be potty trained (which we would like too because then maybe I could get her to stop putting her finger in her diaper every time she poops so she can get some out to show me). Unfortunately, she hasn’t really figured out what to do yet so what happens is she goes in her diaper and then immediately comes to tell me she needs to go potty. Then she sits on the toilet and nothing happens and then she tells me she is all done. Anyway, one day she had sat on the potty after already peeing in her diaper and when she got off I sent her upstairs to get a new diaper and then came back in my office to edit some photos I had taken. About 2 minutes later I heard the boys screaming hysterically and ran in to find that Kyanna, who was still running naked, had pooped on the carpet. That would have been bad enough but just as I got in there our idiot dog grabbed the poop in his mouth and started chewing on it. Then Dax yelled “Yuck Chewbacca!” and lunged toward the dog who lost his grip on the turd and flung it into the pile of legos the boys had been playing with. Then Dax tried to beat up his sister for getting poop on his Legos and everybody ended up in time out while I got to clean the floor and sanitize the legos. If only I had some slow motion footage of that series of events…
